Family Style Food Festival — LA Food Icons Collaboration

Creative Direction · Illustration · Typography · Brand Collaboration

As part of Family Style Food Fest, I was invited to design exclusive merchandise for two of Los Angeles’ most iconic food institutions — Moo’s Craft Barbecue and Mariscos Jalisco — both legends representing the soul of LA’s culinary culture.

For Moo’s Craft Barbecue, I collaborated directly with Andrew and Michelle Muñoz, the husband-and-wife duo behind what’s widely considered the best BBQ in Los Angeles—now officially recognized with a Michelin Bib Gourmand. We pulled inspiration from a Morrissey lyric, “You’re the one for me, fatty,” giving it a playful double meaning that nodded to their rich, indulgent brisket (and yes, their burger is unreal).

For Mariscos Jalisco, a Boyle Heights institution I’ve personally eaten at for well over a decade, I wanted to celebrate the trucks themselves—the beating heart of the brand. Their tacos de camarones are some of the best you’ll ever have, truly legendary in LA. I built the design around the truck, framed by roses and custom hand-drawn blackletter typography inspired by the painted signage styles unique to East LA. The result is a bold, heartfelt tribute to one of the city’s most beloved street food staples.
