AM-FM - Seeing Sounds

AM-FM Equipment — “Seeing Sounds” Series

Creative Direction · Concept Development · Graphic & Motion Design · Art Direction · Production

Music has always been integral to my creative process—there’s never a moment without a soundtrack guiding the work. Seeing Sounds was born from that connection: an experiment in translating sound into form.

For this series, I began by listening to DJ Koze’s “Pick Up” (from the 2018 album Knock Knock), closing my eyes and visualizing the beat as movement, light, and rhythm. The goal was to design what the music looked like. The initial flat artwork captured the structure but lacked the energy pulsing through the track, so I collaborated with longtime friend and motion designer Daniel Uribe Betancourt to bring the composition to life.

Together, we transformed the still graphic into a living visual—an abstract system of frequency and emotion in motion. The artwork was later released across three colorways of tees under the AM-FM label, each version reflecting a different tonal mood of the song.
