Jeen-Yuhs - A Kanye Trilogy

Netflix — Jeen-Yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy

Creative Direction · Typography · Graphic Design · Production · Brand Strategy

Commissioned by Netflix, I was tasked with designing the official merchandise for Jeen-Yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy—a three-part documentary chronicling Kanye West’s early career and creative evolution. Faced with strict asset clearance limitations, I was forced to develop an entirely original visual system that captured the emotional narrative of each act through typographic expression.

Act I: VISION — Distorted and slightly obscured, the typography reflects the ambiguity and determination required to see one’s creative vision before it fully takes shape.

Act II: PURPOSE — Structured, industrial letterforms layered in repetition convey force, energy, and persistence—the relentless drive toward realizing purpose.

Act III: AWAKENING — An elegant script inspired by Herb Lubalin and Tony Di Spigna symbolizes creative flow and self-realization, when focus and intuition align seamlessly.

Each act’s artwork was confined within rigid framing and timestamped with VHS-style markers, visually representing the tension between structure and creative overflow—the idea that creativity can’t be contained. The series formed a cohesive typographic system used across apparel, campaign materials, and global marketing assets.

Facilitated through Netflix.
