Ignored Prayers

Founder · Creative Direction · Community Building · Art & Product Design

I created Ignored Prayers in 2008, shortly after moving from New York to Los Angeles, as a way to stay connected to the people and culture I missed. Before Instagram, when “anytime minutes” were precious, we had blogs—and IP became mine. It was a daily hub for the subversive, the authentic, and the curious: dark humor, art, music, flyers to friends’ shows, rare images, and early memes before memes had a name. Over time, a global community formed—people started sending things they thought I’d like or wanted to share.

At the urging of my late best friend Chris Garcia, I brought Ignored Prayers into the physical world in 2016. I’ve never seen it as a brand—it’s an ongoing, ever-changing art project and creative outlet. It comes and goes as life allows, serving as a platform to make things that don’t need approval or fit inside a commercial brief.

Through IP, I’ve had the chance to collaborate with friends and heroes alike—from Jerry Hsu, Hassan Rahim, and Julia Fox to Comme des Garçons, Vans, and even Rei Kawakubo and Lil Wayne. It remains my space for creative freedom—a place to experiment, have fun, and put ideas into the world with no rules attached.
