American Music Awards - Lil Baby

Lil Baby — “Emotionally Scarred” (American Music Awards Performance)

Commissioned to create a visual language for Lil Baby’s live performance of “Emotionally Scarred” at the American Music Awards, I developed a series of hand-drawn type treatments grounded in the song’s emotional weight—its pain, reflection, and resilience.

Each lyric was translated into expressive, distorted letterforms that echoed the raw honesty of the track. The typography was intentionally imperfect—stretched, warped, and broken—to embody the tension between vulnerability and strength.

These custom type treatments were projected across Lil Baby and his set, becoming an immersive extension of the song itself—turning his performance into a visceral visual statement about struggle and perseverance.
